Back At It…

Hello everyone!,

I hope you are all off to a fantastic New year! I got to start off my new year with a few days down in Florida for a shoot which was awesome (especially since I escaped the NY snow storm just in time)! You can check out photos from my trip on my Instagram! @IAmImanM 🙂

I’d like to start off this post with a little natural skin scrub that I promised I would share with you beautiful babes!

So I ran into a face scrub that involves using natural lemon juice and natural sugar. You put the lemon juice on a cotton pad (or you can be like me n just rub a lemon slice on your face hahaha), put some sugar crystals on top and get to scrubbing! You can dilute the lemon juice with a little water if your skin is too sensitive. I really liked this scrub because my skin really responded well to it! Lemon juice is great for helping to heal acne, remove blackheads, and fade dark spots while the sugar crystals will exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead skin cells. Although I liked this scrub, I felt like the sugar was possibly a little too rough for facial skin.

So while discussing this with a makeup artist, she mentioned that I should try it with baking soda instead of the sugar because the sugar crystals are big and can leave tiny abrasions on the surface of your skin. So I went home and tried the lemon juice and mixed it with the baking soda to make a paste. The baking soda is so fine that it feels like sand. It it just grainy enough to do the job of exfoliating without damaging your skin! So I am now glad that I waited to tell you guys about this because I now prefer to use the baking soda and make a paste with the lemon juice as opposed to the sugar crystals!

Photos for you 🙂

When you add the baking soda to the lemon juice it will start to fizz just like this for a few seconds…

…but once it calms down and you continue mixing, it will look like this and you will have your paste. Don’t be afraid to mix as needed as the baking soda will sometimes sink to the bottom.

Remember that DIY sugar body scrub I told you guys about? Even though that is a scrub with sugar crystals in it, don’t doubt that! The skin on your body is indeed different than the skin on your face and as long as you are not experiencing irritation, that sugar scrub is A-OK for exfoliating your body! 🙂

I hope you guys have fun and see some good results from using this as I did! Next time, I get to review some nail polish that I was given and I am super excited because I already love the colors! See you then, 😀

Xx,

Iman ♥
