When I’m in the city for castings and I end up at a casting with my other friends from the agency I love to go to brunch after with the girls. This happened at my last swim casting the other day with my girl Emily Nolan. Her and I are both in the Curve division at Wilhelmina. She’s a super sweet vegan blogger (mykindoflife.com) and since I always love to try new healthy food, we decided to stop by vegan restaurant “Bliss Grand” in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (where I hope to move in the near future! =D).
I do love animals so I’ve tried being vegetarian in the past, I’ve even tried vegan for a day…and then realized it won’t work for me lol. While I can’t always be totally vegan, I can still appreciate it and this vegan food was definitely tasty and filling! I got the quinoa burger with sweet potato fries and Emily got the pulled jackfruit sandwich (vegan version of pulled pork) with coleslaw and fries. We both, like true addicts, had coffee with soy milk and a glass of water as our beverages.
There is an inside and outside sitting area at Bliss Grand. Because it was so hot, we decided to stay inside but this first photo was our view of part of the outside seating area that I just totally fell in love with!
Our generous array of vegan sauces
The jack fruit was interesting to taste because you wouldn’t believe it was fruit! My burger was good as well and I was surprised at how nice the vegan cheese tasted (I love my cheese) and sweet potato fries are never a let down!
After some mingling with the owners they were so kind enough as to give us a dessert on the house! We chose the vegan chocolate mousse (I loveeeee chocolate mousse, chocolate anything really) and it was delicious! The two layers of mousse were fab and the fresh berries on top added a nice touch.
Em and I had a great time chatting about the industry over some good Vegan eats. If I ever wanted some Vegan delights in Brooklyn again I would definitely have to stop by. Don’t be shy, vegan food is not nearly as frightening as some of you might think!
Now, being the models that we are, we had to get some quick snapshots of ourselves together before we left 😉
Now while I’m at it I’d like to mention Terri vegetarian organic juice bar. My gal Allyn took me here after our Alloy casting in Manhattan, and boy was I impressed! The juice is so so good! I got the green power smoothie and it was perfect! It’s a blend of kale, pear, banana, almond butter, and soymilk. Say it with me…yummmm. I plan on stopping here after all my castings!

Happy healthy eating babes! I’m off to work.
